Naki Nik Naks 0011 – Reliquilae – March 2026
Reliquilae is Latin for left overs or the remains. Like Asher, Reliquilae is the remains of several different Singer sewing machine cabinets. The standout feature is a naturally dried slab of macrocarpa used for the top and legs.
The before
Reliquilae is the remains from several different Singer sewing machine cabinets, circa 1920's and 1930's. Seemed a waste to not use the beautiful wood and components for something so hence the creation. The legs and top slab are raw natural dried Macracarpa.

The process
Relatively simple, we took the spares and played jigsaw to see what the most feasible combination was. Tracey opted for country style colours again. A Dairy Cream off white and Sage green. The feet and top slabs natural grains and colours enhanced by a heavy coating of epoxy resin. The handles are a jade material with brass plated attachments.
Reliquilae is now a feature in our lounge complimenting Tracey's workstation, Nova, across the room.

The end result
Reliquilae has become the holder of our wedding and travel albums – secured in place with our Aotearoa Pounamu book ends (a gift from an artist many years ago).
