A Random Act of Kindness
While op shopping with a friend at St Vincent de Paul on Cameron Rd in Tauranga, New Zealand, I spotted a couch similar to what I’ve been looking for. I positioned myself every which way to make sure it was comfy and said to my friend “this would be just perfect”.
A lady standing nearby who I thought was also admiring the couch said to me “it is a lovely couch isn’t it”?
I told her “I’ve only got 2 chairs at present so can’t snuggle up with my daughter and relax back properly and I’ve been hunting for the right couch for a while.” I said to my friend “I wonder if they’ll hold it for me until next week? No actually, I’ll come back next week and if its here it’s meant to be, if its not, something else will come along”.
I saw the lady go to the counter and nod towards the couch and I thought, oh well that answers that, she’s just bought it. After she left, I asked the man behind the counter if the couch had been sold, and he said “yes……………………to you! The lady has paid for it for you!”.
My jaw literally dropped to the floor and the flood gates opened. I was, and still am just job smacked, overwhelmed, humbled, grateful, thankful, in disbelief.
I ran out the door and around the back of the shop to the car park to find you, to thank you for such a beautiful gesture, but you were nowhere to be seen. Whoever you are, I hope you’re reading this as I really wanted to say thank you so very much! My daughter and I will finally be able to snuggle in comfort 🤗🛋🤗👍💕
